Frequently asked questions.
Why are you selling?
I recently retired and moved to Florida. After immensely enjoying my #VanLife experiences I now am going to be spending more time on my boat and won’t do justice by hanging onto such a wonderful van! It deserves to be used for having fun!
Who are the Builders?
This was professionally built by Off Grid PDX and Van Life Tech (see logos for links on homepage). Two outstanding Oregon builders who have national reputations for quality and service. I regularly am in touch with them should questions arise and they both have been extremely responsive. They have talked me through every question I’ve had and I will pass their contact info along to you as well as I will be available for questions as well. There’s a lot to learn about #VanLife.
Is your price firm?
Yes. It’s in immaculate condition inside and out. Don’t waste your or my time as tire kickers.
Recent Maintenance
Recently completed “A” Mercedes service scheduled for 65,000miles. Interior was detailed and external was recently ceramic coated. Also Interior Hydronic system was upgraded to newest version by VanLifeTech in Feb 2024.
Is this a 4X4?
Yes. Mercedes does not provide “lockers” but rather uses an intelligent computer based pushbutton system. It has a high and low range and gets you in and out of just about anything.
What kind of gas milage does it get?
14 mpg is pretty consistent in town or on the road. It does have oversized tires BFG K02 285/75/16 x 4 for the off-road capabilities so that sacrifices a few mpg’s.
What Engine?
It is a 6 cylinder turbo diesel Mercedes engine. These engines have a reputation for going 400,000+ miles with proper maintenance (mine has all been by certified Mercedes mechanics) and has outstanding torque for towing rated up to 9000lbs.
Uses DEF?
Yes. It is not DEF deleted for the sake of warranty. I get about 6000 miles off a tank.
Does it have rear AC?
Dash-Yes, Rear cabin-No. This was mostly used in the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada where AC is generally not needed. It does have Rolef (no see um quality) netting throughout so with all doors open it’s quite comfortable and breezy in non humid conditions. Anyone who wants to use it in the Southeast would probably want to add. It has large enough inverter and lithium battery storage for any added system. Would recommend Cruisn’ Comfort which is the highest quality DC based air conditioning cabin system out there for VanLifers with an unmatched reputation. https://www.cruisencomfortusa.com/ If I were keeping it in Florida that’s what I planned to do.
Warranty?
I purchased a transferrable 7 year 175,000 mile warranty and it has 1 year remaining. It will be transferred to the next owner.
